It was pointed out to me, thank you Andrew Slaughter, that it would be nice to have numbers in the section, subsection and so forth titles.I thought fo rsure that DGE would not allow that but apparently, if your committee will allow section numbering like that you can do it.

If you want that numbering scheme, simply change this line in the .cls file

"secnumdepth{0}" should now become "secnumdepth{4}"

Note that there is probably more than one instance of that in the .cls file. To get the Chapter titles to change I modified the makechapterhead definition to look like this:

  1. \def\@makechapterhead#1{%
  2. \ifnum \@marginsize = 4 % oldmargins
  3. \vspace*{20\p@}% changed from 50
  4. \fi
  5. { \parindent \z@ \raggedright \normalfont
  6. \interlinepenalty\@M
  7. % \centering \MakeUppercase{#1}\par\nobreak
  8. \ifnum \c@secnumdepth > 0
  9. \centering CHAPTER\space\thechapter\\ \MakeUppercase{#1}\par\nobreak
  10. \else
  11. \centering \MakeUppercase{#1}\par\nobreak
  12. \fi
  13. \vskip 20\p@
  14. }
  15. }
  16.
  17.
  18.
