2010 Suburban 1500 Review

We rented a 2010 Suburban 1500 after our accident. We needed to be able to haul our entire family as well as the room for a little traveling. This was the best vehicle available from the local rental agency.

It was a great vehicle and even fun to drive. It had leather interior, dvd player and rear screen. Rear audio control, auto locking hubs, sun/moon roof, roof rack, variable wipers, cruise, tachometer, trip computer including compass, power this and power that. I was impressed with the power plug deep within the center console and the 12V outlet in the back.

For the time we had the Suburban, we got 18+ mpg in city and about 22mpg on the highway. I do not know if that matches GM's published specifications but that's what we got. Unfortunately we did not take if off road so I can not write to how well the 4 wheel drive worked. I was disappointed but I did not drive it but a couple times.

Pros: My wife liked driving something tall. There was plenty of room for all the oompa loompas (munchkins, ewoks, or even wookies) plus a lot of luggage. It had plenty of power with which you could tow any number of large trailers.

Cons: My wife did not like driving something so long. Gas mileage was not the best (but not too bad for something so big) but if you need to haul a lot of people it is good on a miles per person per gallon basis.
